About Festive Radio

Dear Listener, my name is Ian and I would like to welcome you to Festive Radio. So how did it all start.

I have always been interested in music and back in 1996 I started a website service called Bands-R-Us to promote local UK bands. This went on for some years and during this period managing a few rock bands I came across a magazine called Alternative Magazine.
It was a way to promote the bands and after speaking to the magazine owner he was interested in a website to support it. The connection to music and website lead me to thinking how can I stream music for the magazine readers.

So back in 2000 when I first started investigating Internet Radio. As a Techie person I spent hours on the web trying to find out how I can broadcast my music to the world. From search I cam across many service providers and the one that stood out from the crowd for me was Live365.com. One of the main issues about broadcasting is how can you do it legally as when playing music royalties have to be paid. The Live365 broadcast solution provided this and the cost for the service was very reasonable.

So Alternative Magazine and AltRadio was launched. Unfortunately the magazine did not survive and I was still running the online radio, so I thought a change was needed, and what would be popular.

So back in 2005 the Eureka moment happened I found I had a lot of Christmas music and the Radio broadcasting is a hobby I very much enjoy, so I setup Festive Radio on Live365 and uploaded music to play. It was a good success. So where do I go next, well being a web programmer naturally the website was to follow so FestiveRadio.co.uk was born 03-May-2006, and FestiveRadio.com a little bit later.

Then in 2006 its was full steam ahead to develop the website for Christmas 2006. Of course after Christmas what happens to a Christmas Radio station, so for a few years in between the great event Festive Radio has become Festival Radio and also Love Radio, but now its back to Festive Radio and its here to stay 24/7 all year long.

SO how Is Festive Radio Broadcast.
Well in my searching the web I discovered a great tool by the company Spacial Audio called SAM Broadcaster. The tool allows you to load up your music to your own server, and set features like track mixing, jingles, and voice covers. The system also integrated with databases so if you have some DB programming skills and application development server skills, you can integrate your website for example to allow people to select tracks to request.
Well thats the history, so I hope you enjoy listening to Festive Radio
